I have a degree… of course I’m smarter than a 5th Grader!

Within this week, I realised a 5th grader was smarter than me!

From mid January 2012, my theme for the year has been “break every chain”.  I really felt God was dealing with me to break strongholds in my life, the lives of our family and when we ministered, we had to “break every chain”. If that was not the outcome of our activities for 2012, it was almost as if we would miss God’s purpose for us.

We recently had an entrepeneurs Day at school and we held a raffle. When we drew the names of the winner, a Grade 5 boy, (for the sake of his privacy) lets call him John, won the prize. John had never been friendly to me or my children and his mother had on various occasions outright ignored me, so when John won, my thought was “oh you”. Not as excited as I would have been if someone close to me.

The workers at the stalls told me later they were really excited John had won as he told them when he bought the ticket “his family have never won anything and he had decided he was going to break that curse today by winning this raffle. “

Rapped over the knuckles, I reflected back over the events.  John had used our raffle as his point of contact to break a stronghold over his family, exactly what God had told our family was our focus for 2012. So it just goes to show, that our human nature can still be selective about who we would like to be blessed and who we don’t think should be blessed!

So in this event, a 5th Grader tapped into the spirit realm to break bondages over his family when I was not even feeling spiritual!

When God says “break every chain”, you carry power to do so even when you are not focussed on the spiritual! Yep…I had to start repenting again!

It is the presence of Jesus in you to “break every chain”. You might think it a coincidence that this happened, but there were more than 10 raffles out there that day, and he chose ours!

Hi Guys!!!

This is a 20 minute message I shared at a recent Breakthrough Fire Conference we hosted!

Many of us are repeatedly reaping cycles in our lives that we do not enjoy, such as anger, bitterness, resentments, judgments, strife and division. If you do not like what you are reaping, change your seed. If you do not like what you are reaping, change your seed.

I look forward to hearing some positive testimonies from the change of fruit in your life!

A statement heard too often by leaders. After salvation, all the Christians ever speak of is…I want to be more like Jesus… but what does it mean to be more like Jesus?

The answer to this is found when Paul says

1 Cor 11:1
1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

That raises the question: “What is Christ doing that I need to imitate?

We all have this wonderful picture of Jesus sitting on His GOLD throne, in a GOLD throne room on a sea of glass, with all the millions of angels singing and a rainbow over the throne.

The truth is: Jesus is in heaven, in the throne room, working! But the Bible says His work was done on the Cross. Yes it was. But now He is working for you and me! He is working so that I can get saved and … get this, He is praying so I can STAY saved!

Heb 7:25
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

KJV read it like this: because he continueth ever…

Jesus did pay the price for me! And wow He is interceding so that I will accept His price and make His deliverance my own through salvation.

So if I want to be more like Jesus, all I need to do is accept Jesus as my Saviour and start interceding. But who do I pray for?

1 Tim 2:1-3

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.

Child Praying

If Jesus as the only person to overcome the devil, sin and death, can pray for ALL to get saved, why do I think it is not important enough for me to pray for others?

Two chewies (my word for having to chew on, meditate on, think over something till I’ve got it in my spirit) worthy of mentioning regarding praying for others:

Chewie 1:
Job 42:10
10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses when Job prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Chewie 2:
I was listening to Benny Hinn teach on the 12 Names of God. I want to focus on 3 and 4 (Adonai and El Shaddai). Benny Hinn clearly specified that you have to get to know God in this order as they are revealed in the Bible:
1. Elohim – I only know God’s power and God’s creation
2. Jehovah – The Lord God, always connected to covenant, where I understand God’s love towards me.
3. Adonai – In Adonai, I get to know God as my Lord.
Gen 18:17
17 And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,

God wanted to share with Abraham that He was on His way to destroy
Sodom and Gomorrah, and Abraham interceded by pleading with God.

In Adonai, we learn to become prophetic and intercessory. God starts sharing things with us regarding His plan for others. In Adonai, there is nothing hidden anymore.
4. El Shaddai – The All Sufficient One
In Hebrew it means the multi breasted one, one who is more than sufficient.

Is it not awesome to know that even in the order that God’s names are revealed in the Bible, we first have to start interceding and praying for other people before God starts turning our own situation around.

He only turned Job’s situation around when Job started praying for his friends. Not only does God turn our situation around, but He also restores double.

So in becoming more like Jesus, all we need to do is spend more time in prayer for the people.

This is a step I have failed at miserably over the last four months…so I’m off to go find a victim…I mean a Friend that I can pray for!
